My Favorite Products for Curly Hair

Girls with curly hair are no strangers to hair styling products and tools. As a curly girl myself, I know that spotting a new product which promises "perfect curls" and "zero frizz" is too tempting to ignore. Unfortunately, most of these products don't live up to their promises and end up piling up in my bathroom. There are, however, a few key products that have proven their effectiveness time and time again. Denman Classic 7 Row Styling Brush (D-3)

This best-selling brush is perfect for all hair types - including thick, curly hair! Unlike many brushes which have little "balls" on the tips of the bristles, the Denman brushes have smooth, firm nylon bristles that won't get caught in your hair as you're trying to detangle. The ends of the bristles are slightly rounded, so they also won't scratch your scalp as you comb. For best results with curly hair, use a generous amount of leave-in conditioner and use the Denman brush to comb the conditioner through your wet hair. Comb through your hair slowly, gently working through any tangles, and then let your hair air dry. Avoid running your fingers through your hair as this will cause the curls to frizz out! (Note: If you have very thick hair, like I do, this combing process can take awhile. It usually takes me 35 minutes but, trust me, it's worth it. My curls become perfectly defined and I get tons of compliments on them.)

Not only does it condition your hair, leaving it soft and more mangeable, but it also revitalizes your curls, repairs split ends and restores your hair's natural shine. Available in three different sizes, the Terax Crema has been voted the "Best Overall Conditioner" by In Style magazine five years in a row. Simply apply a small amount to damp hair, leave in for 2-15 minutes before rinsing. If your hair is severely dry and damaged, leave the conditioner in for the full 15 minutes.

Sebastian Potion 9 Wearable Styling Treatment

This is, hands down, the best hair styling product I've ever tried. Actually, it's now the ONLY product I use when I'm styling my hair - no more gels, lotions or sprays! The lotion is made up of 9 essential extracts which work throughout the day to restore moisture and repair damage like split ends. It also keeps my hair looking shiny and healthy. For best results, apply a generous amount of Potion 9 on wet hair that has just been conditioned. You can use your Denman brush to comb Potion 9 through your hair or, if you need to save time, just run it through your curls using your fingers and style as usual.
