The Keratin Controversy

There has been much talk in the media lately regarding the safety of keratin-based salon hair straightening treatments. Specifically, the controversy has centered around the fact that Formaldehyde (a suspected carcinogen) was found in many of the treatments' formulas as well as in the air after the treatment had been performed. Although many of these companies claim their products are "Formaldehyde free" and argue that they are perfectly safe to use, independent tests have shown that some of these formulas contain levels of formaldehyde as high as 8%. Many salons have even pulled the treatments after workers complained of eye irritation, respiratory discomfort and other side effects.

The attention given to salon treatments has now spilled over to at-home treatments and consumers are paying closer attention to the ingredients of products they are using. All of us here at Fabove.ca are committed to ensuring that the products we offer our customers are safe to use and that they meet all of the Health Canada regulations and guidelines. We're proud to confirm that Liquid Keratin - the only keratin-based hair straightening treatment we sell - was recently tested for Formaldehyde, Methylene Glycol and Acetaldehyde by an independent lab in the United States. Liquid Keratin 30 Day Treatment and Liquid Keratin BOLD were both tested, and all test results indicated that none of these toxic substances were detected in the formulas.

If you have any further questions or concerns about Liquid Keratin products, please don't hesitate to contact our Customer Service department. A member of our staff will be happy to answer your questions.
